Speech and language therapists
(SLTs) are allied health professionals. SLTs work in community health centres, hospital wards and outpatient departments, day centres and in their clients' homes.
The Specialist Speech and Language Therapy
Service aims to provide a high quality responsive service to patients and their families in the community, experiencing and living with cancer
and non cancer progressive conditions. Their overall aim is to maintain and improve people quality of life. They assess and manage people experiencing difficulties with communication e.g. poor speech, problems with understanding, those requiring alternative communication systems, and/or swallowing difficulties.
